Switch Yard in Power Plant

In this blog we are study about most important part of Power Plant.That name is Switch Yard.

What is switch yard?

Switch yard is also known as switching station that connect a power plant to its transmission system.

Switch yard is considered the heart of power plant. It is function as mediator between electricity generation system to distribution network/ path.

In power plant, switch yard is crucial component of electrical grid infrastructure. It is where electrical power generated by plant is transferred to the transmission network.

Switch yard serve as the interface between the power plant and the transmission line that carry electricity to substation & ultimately to consumer.

Switch yard is switching ON/OFF reactive power control device to affect power quality & step up or step down the voltage level depending upon the network node.

Key Point Of Switch yard in Power Plant

• Switches: These are device that connect & disconnect to correct path.

• Protection & Control Equipment: This is an equipment to control & Protection the Switchyard Equipment.

• Transformer: They are use to convert high voltage to low voltage or low voltage to high voltage. They are use that transfer electrical energy from one circuit to  another circuit, without changing the frequency.They are base on principal of electromagnetic induction

• Circuit Breaker: These are device used to maintain & interrupt the flow of current in circuit on under faulted & Abnormal condition.It is electromagnetic device which is use as in switch yard that protect the electrical system    cause by short circuit, overload, & other occure abnormal current.
